The Active Communities Tool Assessment Modules

This report summarizes findings from the CDC’s Active Communities Tool (ACT) assessment, examining how policies, plans, infrastructure, and community resources support physical activity in Kansas City, Missouri. The assessment highlights strengths and opportunities related to street connectivity, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, parks and recreation facilities, and school environments. Developed through a collaborative effort involving UMKC, Children’s Mercy, BikeWalkKC, and community partners, the report identifies areas where existing plans and practices align and where gaps remain. The findings are intended to inform future planning, decision-making, and community conversations focused on creating more opportunities for active living.
